I could bear only about 2 minutes in the sweltering outdoors, so these are the only photos you'll be getting. Sorry. I know I've been spotty about blogging, but it just can't be helped! I wish I knew a spell that could dispel all the warm air that makes me (and a lot of other people I know) pretty sluggish.

I went to see the HP over the weekend, and though I thought the movie was OK at best, I still cried at parts. (Like when Neville brandishes the Sword of Griffindor) I know, I know, what a sissy. I actually read the book in preparation for the movie. It's been years since I'd last read it, but I maintain my position when I say that JK could've used a better editor. (Me, perhaps?)

Enough movie talk. Here's how I wore this black dress a second time. I like the bumblebee look, if you hadn't noticed.  I actually wore a pair of biking shorts underneath since I probably will be doing some bending and stretching later on in the day. I swear, biking shorts are the best when it comes to making an outfit modest/un-skanky!

Tell me:
Are you a HP fan? If so, how did you like the movie?
OR
How do you keep your outfits (think short skirts or low tops) acceptable by the public? Shorts? camis? stray away from skanky stuffs?

  1. I'm an HP nerd too! Of course, I read the books but honestly I hardly remembered half the things that happened. I anticipated I would cry my eyes out at the (well I don't want to give anything away, but the part that would make anyone who has a twin cry) but they really didn't focus too much on that. So I did not cry at the movie though I did cry a lot when I read the books. I'm such a wimp! I thought HPp7p1 was better though. Sorry, that was a really long comment, this is what happens when mention HP!

  3. I'm not much of an HP enthusiast, so I have really no insight to reveal. I like this bumblebee look, you look marvelous is yellow. If I'm wearing a skirt I always wear spandex shorts underneath, going up the stairs would be a tradegy without them.

  4. I may have squeaked when I read the title of this post. LOVE IT!

Look at you working those layers in the summer! Go girl go! Do you find the biking shorts make it extra warm? I haven't tried this yet but I've been thinking about it. (30 degrees here...and humid. YUCK.)

I saw the movie this weekend too! I thought it was pretty good, but I know what you mean when you say it coulda been better. My friend and I thought some of the dialogue was lacking. (Malfoy: Well well, what are you doing here?
Harry: What are YOU doing here?!) ...Really, people?

We were both tragefied by Snape's death and The Weasley twins and stuff... But when it came to the main part surrounding Harry, there was a tiny bit of an emotional disconnect. His death is much sadder in the book. I don't know. I'm terribly sorry, I'm rambling now.

  5. I actually loved the last HP movie, but it may be because I didn't read the last book beforehand. I'm just now reading it because I knew that if I read the book first, I'd be disappointed, haha! But there's always so much missing from the movies that I knew there wasn't any way it could spoil the book -- does that make any sense?

Also, I love the bumblebee look too! Hey, if it works for those little dudes, why not for us, right? ;)

  12. I am a huge HP fan! I reread book no. 7 to prepare for the final movie - which through a series of unfortunate events I have yet to see. I will, though, soon!
I love the little white dots on your yellow shirt. It's such a summery top!

  13. I love your bumblebee inspired outfit! You look great in this shade of yellow! I especially like the ruffle detail, Laura. From these shots you'd never be able to tell how hot it is outside. You look to be in your element in spite of the hot weather! :)

  14. I haven't seen HP yet, but I'm supposed to be going tomorrow. I figure I have to before I see my bff this weekend since she's already seen it twice! In fact she wanted to talk about it tonight (which it's not like I don't know what happened) but I think she decided to wait for me to go.

  15. Love the ruffles on ruffles! So cute, but not too much.
I just wear skirts as short as I please and then try not to bend over too much...:)

  16. clove that pop of yellow going there.. i dont have much yellow in my wardrobe! Those sandal looks really comfy too!! I liked the movie, but I agree the other HP movies were better but I guess it was an ending, so it wasn't suppose to make you feel excited about more stories to come...

  26. At first I didn't realize your blouse had polka dots on it. When I saw them I let out an "Ooh!" Haha. Seriously, though, that's a really pretty blouse. Heck, the whole outfit is really pretty. You have a knack for creating such outfits.

I've been meaning to try biker shorts under skirts/dresses. For the most part, I just try not to bend over or reach up for anything.

People seem genuinely shocked when I tell them I've never read the Harry Potter books or watched the movies. I dunno.

  32. Harry Potter!! is my childhood, of course :)

I never really like the movies all that much, but I always GO anyway. It's so sad. Like all of the other movies, I don't think it was at all a good MOVIE. But then again, people are going to go see it whether it is a good movie or not. Just because of the fandom. Some of the imagery was nice and as a fan, it was worth seeing.

I have a pair of semi lacy, eyelet lounge shorts I wear underneath shrort skirt similarly :D
