A few posts back, I mentioned that I felt most of my items in my closet to be rubbish. But because
I'm such a softie, I decided to give some of these items another chance of perhaps living in my dresser a bit longer. This tunic is one of those ridiculous pieces I've decided to pardon.... for now.
When shopping, I usually
gravitate towards odd-looking pieces with different textures. The tulle on the straps of this tunic grabbed my attention almost instantly, and my eyes were drawn to the lace print on the actual garment. Yep, that's right,
lace print. I thought it was the grandest thing because it looked like I was wearing lace without getting my skin all irritated and itchy. Now, it's just silly. But I still kinda like it.
Problem is, I've only gotten this tunic to work this one way-- paired with skinny jeans/leggings. If I can pair it with other things in my wardrobe, then it's safe from the giveaway bin. On the one hand, I want it to work. On another, I kinda don't.
Do you have pieces you have mixed feelings about?
I love your leather jacket but it's too hot to wear them lately. If feel like Summer in September.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do have clothes that I have mixed feelings but when in doubt, don't. XD
Yes..I have mixed feelings about mini-skirts and yes you are totally allowed to judge and think bessie u r crazy! The thing is, I am 30...and even though most people guess I am younger than that I just prefer things that are closer to the knee but we'll see :). This top is awesome Laura, have you tried it under a cardigan with a pair of gray slacks? That'd be awesome for work...or how about a jean jacket with a bright skirt and some rugged boots? Can't wait to see if you try these ideas ;)
ReplyDeletecool leather jacket and fab glasses! love your blog <3
ReplyDeletefollow me if you love to, and i'll follow you back :)

Have you tried tucking it into a skirt? Maybe? It's really cute...and I gotta say even if you can only ever pair it with skinny jeans or leggings I still think it might be worth keeping because the texture seems really cool and it's certainly original. Oh, and that jacket is killer!

this is a really good piece and you have styled it well..i think i have mixed feelings for the colour pink.i like some shades of it but not all.i have hated it for the most part of my life though!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have the best style. I love this look. One of my favorite things to do is pair an edgy jacket, like yours, with something feminine and pretty like lace, similar to your top. It's such a fantastic look!
ReplyDeletei get mixed feeling about my wardrobe all the time.. this is one of my fave outfits from you actually! kinda edgy but girly at the same time :D
ReplyDeleteThat jacket is pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteI definitely have a lot of things in my wardrobe that I'm iffy about. Most of them are dresses that are too low cut or short (which is saying a lot because I like low cut and short, but I have my limits!)
That jacket basically is amazing. Lovely outfit as always!

i have mixed feeling about most things in my closet, lol! i really do like this top. maybe you could layer this over another dress that kinda peeks out the bottom? add bet? and jacket/blazer? i think it's a keeper!

lovely outfit :) I love your ring!
ReplyDeleteI like the tunic! I have a lace print scarf, purchased for the same reason. I was going to suggest pairing it with a skirt too. If you tucked it in to a pencil skirt and threw on a cardigan and some pumps, I bet it'd look pretty chic.
ReplyDeleteI have the mixed feelings thing about stuff in my closet too. I love that leather jacket :) Cute blog!

Laura, this outfit is great girl! I'm SO glad you didn't give that top away. Because if you log onto Ann Taylor or LOFT they are selling shirts like the one you have on w/lace detail for a very NICE price. Hold onto it girl! Hope you have an awesome weekend!

ReplyDeleteI love this tough-yet-girly outfit. I could never pull anything like this off. You really look amazing. And, I'd say your tunic has lots of potential. You already received some great ideas in previous comments. Let us know what you ultimately decide regarding it!

I love that tunic! keep keep keep :) maybe you could cut it shorter so it's more wearable and then put a tank peeking out from under at the hemline. The entire outfit is wonderful esp. the leather jacket! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteYeah.. I do.. they're usually the items i buy without thinking twice about it :/
ReplyDeleteAh, I see what you mean here.. its so cute how you give your items second chances :) I think the tunic is nice when you have your jakcet on (or some other sweater or something!) but the tule sleeves bother me. But im sure you'll find ways to keep it cool :) You look cute!
ReplyDeleteBLeh I know that feeling. I have a giant pile of "eh maybe" clothes that idk who im kidding with, but once in a while I'll dig something up and think "oh i missed you ill wear you forever." haha

ReplyDeleteI have to say that I have a new favorite outfit and it's this one! I love how you've combined the edgy leather jacket with the more feminine lace tunic. Most definitely I say give this tunic another chance! Your hair looks gorgeous! I loved it pulled back like this. Laura, this is a look I would be super happy to be sporting in my neck of the woods. I would looks so cool! hee hee! :)
ReplyDeletelovely post¡¡¡ great pics :D
ReplyDeletei love your blog :D kisses from Mexico...
That's lace print?? I never would have known. Maybe you could put it with a slightly longer skirt and then it would almost be like a dress?
ReplyDeleteI love your leather jacket :)
ReplyDeleteWinter is almost over in Australia and I kind of regret not being able to wear my leather jacket out much :(
I have many pieces like that in my wardrobe, now that I'm also on a shopping ban I am going to try to weed them out a bit.
ReplyDeleteYour leather jacket is super cool... i love it :)

Oh, for sure! Sometimes I look back at something and think "why did I buy this?" The shirt is cute though-- I think it might work tucked in to a skirt-- maybe a tulle skirt (if you have one) to match with the tulle on the shoulders. And good for you for giving up shopping for 6 months! I do that from time to time for shorter periods, and it's funny but I found the taking a picture of myself every day part was a lot more difficult than not buying anything. I don't know how you fashion bloggers keep up with it!
ReplyDeleteI converge on funny looking, strange pieces at stores too... the wilder and weirder the pattern or texture the better! I have mixed feelings about quite a few of the items I've purchased, especially dresses (the ones that I worry are a tad too short but love the print of!)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about this ensemble? The jacket! So biker chic!
your hair has gotten so long!
ReplyDeletei like this outfit, there is something so chic about it!

I love this outfit! The proportions are perfect and it's super flattering. It looks like real lace from the pics, so maybe it's not too bad? Gosh, this rocker look really works great on you!
