For me, the holidays give legitimate reason to dress up in ridiculous amounts of sparkle and shine. During this time of the year, I tolerate the mega sequined floor-length gowns and the bedazzled sweaters. When it comes to wearing bling, however, I like to keep it simple and stick to accessories or small details that pop.
I've been lusting over these Miu Miu Glitter pumps for a while now, but who has $500 to drop on a pair of shoes that will only be worn a few times? (OK, I'll probably wear them everyday, but still-- $500 is definitely over my budget)
After rifling through my shoe closet and craft supplies, I came up with this inexpensive solution! RED GLITTER PEEP TOE HEELS! Read on frugal fashionistas, and learn how you can score a pair for as cheap as $5.00.
Estimated Time needed to complete project: 1 hour painting + 24 hours drying

Let the shoes dry overnight. Resist the urge to poke-test for dryness.
STEP 7: (optional)
After drying for 24 hours, spray your shoes with a spray adhesive that dries clear. This will prevent any glitter fall-outs.

O my goodness! You did a ridiculously awesome job with this DIY. I would never have thought you'd turned those into glitter pumps. They look amazing and very nice paired with your all black outfit.
ReplyDeleteI just did this with a few of my shoes - I also highly recommend covering the entire shoe is mod podge to help prevent glitter from falling off, leaving a trail of fairy dust. ;)
ReplyDeleteDirty Pink Cardigan
:D
I LOVE your shoes!! you did a fabulous job :D Maybe I should attempt... thanks for inspiring Laura! You look perfectly glam for the winter holiday!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! x

ReplyDeleteRuby slippers! The ultimate in glittery shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteI too covet those Miu Mius and before I left Scotland I had two pairs of glittery shoes -- one red (now in the hands/on the feet of Cath).
Love your DIY, Laura! I've also heard modge podge works quite well too!
Beyond clever Missy! What made you think of mixing the glitter with the glue first? Love me some sparkle for the holidays! This is so perfect and budget friendly.
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh, you made this yourself? That's great!
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea. I have been wanting a pair of sparkly shiny shoes and might be able to makeover a pair that got ruined in water. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are absolutely BRILLIANT! These glitter heels look fantastic! Thank you for the inspiration. :) I came by your blog totally by accident and I am SO glad that I did! You have a new reader - and fan!
