Like a lot of other bloggers, I've been craving some pastels lately. While others may easily don soft hues of yellow, pink, purple, and green, I rather think I look like a bonbon. Or perhaps I just feel like a bonbon. If it doesn't work, then that's too bad, because I just recently purchased some pastel-y goodies that I can't wait to wear.
These jeans are one of my recent thrift finds. I've been wanting to jump on the bright denim bandwagon (that's been passing by me for all of a year already) but just haven't found a color I'd actually want to try. Enter these too-large jeans for $0.50 that I modified to fit me (READ: I cut 3 inches off the height and then another 5 inches around each leg to actually make them fit my legs/hips). I was quite hesitant about modifying jeans at first, but I just took an old pair of skinnies and used that as a draft to cut this pair into my size. Easy Peasy.
How are you wearing pastels?
Your sewing skills are so impressive to me. I never would have been able to do that with a pair of jeans. I figured you had just got them at Old Navy or something when I saw you wearing pink pants - they look great!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you reworked those jeans - you are a far bolder and more talented woman than I!. They seriously look great.

I love how the flats and the top are perfectly matched! And I love, love the flats. It's totally my type of shoe! Good job on the modification of the jeans! You're so savvy! Pastels? I was 14 the last time I wore them! hee hee! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the pastel trend. Now I wish the weather would just cooperate. haha I love your pink pants. You are amazing when it comes to sewing. It's definitely a gift! You can save so much when you know how to sew. I have some pastel blues, but I need to work on some other colors.

love those pink pants
ReplyDeletePretty pretty! I love the colour of those thrifted pants and the detailing on the top. I am hopeless at sewing so if it doesn't fit me I don't buy it- which unfortunately limits me at thrift stores!
ReplyDeleteOhh those jeans look great, you did an amazing job skinnifiying them, and the color is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe jeans look great, I love the pink colour :) It makes me long for summer! I want to fill up my wardrobe with pretty pastels too! x
ReplyDeleteYou know, I don't know that i own a lot of pastel clothing. And the colored jeans trend is fun and cute on everyone else, but I just can't bring myself to do it - too hard :P I like my boring, denim-colored denim.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of making your own skinny jeans. It's just too hard to find something that fits me properly. I will need another pair soon enough because they never last and I will remember this. The bright pink color is great, too.
ReplyDeleteHOT pants I love! I recently acquired a pair of cobalt blue skinnies too and love them to death! You look great in pastel my dear!
ReplyDeleteLoving those jeans girl, they are fab!
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes, I can't believe you altered those jeans yourself. You're a genius. And I love this outfit on you. The bright pink jeans makes the pastels really work. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the pastel colors! Especially the pink! it looks great on you!

Whoa, awesome job on the jeans! I haven't tackled altering anything yet, I is scared! I don't mind pastel colors, though I can't say I have any off the top of my head. They mostly remind me of Easter.
ReplyDeleteI've been avoiding the pastels I'm not much of a light colored person anymore I'm hoping I'll be able to hide under the radar with this fashion trend colors are scary ;) Love what you did with the jeans you are one talented lady with a needle and thread!

Wow!! Great job on the jeans. I love the coloured jeans-I think it's cute! I have a pair of rust ones from Old Navy and I like them.
ReplyDeleteA great, casual outfit! Kudos to you for venturing into colored denim! I don't think I own any at all. I'm way conservative with my style, which isn't good. =/
ReplyDeleteThose pink pants are awesome! I like the color.
ReplyDeleteThe pink pants look AWESOME on you!! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI love your jeans, they fit perfectly :) And the whole bonbon look suits you well :) I'll be totally rocking pastels this spring, once I find the right tones for me ;) xoxo ♥
ReplyDeleteAhh, your top is so stinkin' cute. The little dots! And how fun are your pink jeans?! I have a hard time warming up to colored denim for some reason. I think it looks great on other people, just not me (though I do have a pair of dusky purple boyfriend jeans).
ReplyDeleteThis post has me yearning for my pastel cardigans. Soon.
PINK PANTS! Positively scrumptious. I would eat you right up! =O And your shoes are just gorgeous and sparkly! <3 No sugar coating it here either!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love the pink pants. You look so pretty, I love the sparkle in your top and your hair looks so cute here. I've been wearing pastels in small doses, I'm trying to adjust since I tend to wear a lot of black. I haven't shopped at The Gap in forever, going to cyber stalk the shop now :)

ReplyDeleteYou did an awesome job altering those jeans! I love the colour too :) And I am loving pastels. I have a few items and just bought some stone washed mint green skinny jeans :)

Actually I've been craving brights! Arrgh, I should have gotten those pink Old Navy pants that were like $5 and that everyone has... I'm an idiot. Thought I'd never wear them. I can't believe you did all those alterations! You must be so good at sewing. I wish I was, but things never seem to come out right for me And by things I mean seams in a straight line.
ReplyDeletesimple and chic! i love!
ReplyDeleteI love that bonbon outfit, as you call it. Your pink bottoms is to die for! So girly. :-)

i think u did a great job modifying the jeans!! i would never be able to make so many changes. really cute outfit! sometimes we just need a bit of color during the dreadful winter
ReplyDeleteI really like your hair in your pics today, don't know why lol. Hmm, I must admit I'm not a fan of pastels, maybe because I have only seen skanky girls wearing them innappropriately! But you look fab.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of jeans I have been wanting to modify also, and now you gave me the idea of using another pair to trace around - awesome! Will get sewing :)
