Like I mentioned in last Friday's post, I love having an excuse to dress up in costume. To celebrate my turning 27, I threw a Star Wars party and demanded that everyone come dressed in their best galaxy garb. These photos are the best ones I could assemble since I didn't have a camera on me the whole night. I dressed up as Wicket, the most beloved Ewok of all, and my husband (who doesn't like showing his face on le blog) Darth Mauled up like crazy. Fun times.

My costume was, of course, DIY. I made a fuzzy, scalloped edged skirt and fuzzy ears attached to my orange hood. Matched those with some glitter orange polish, and voila-- Ewok.

How do you celebrate birthdays?

  1. Who did the face painting for your husband, it came out awesome! I know not a thing about Star Wars, but I at least recognized him, lol.

  3. Nice work! I seriously want to come to your dress up parties. I typically celebrate my birthday with lots of wine and it's fun, but maybe not this much fun.

  4. 27th? Ah, to be so young :) Happy Birthday!

Love the Star Wars theme party! I usually gather up my friends and head up to the nearby German bar for some beer boots and polka, but I might change things up this year.

  10. I love your costume. My husband doesn't like to be on the blog either so when I use his picture he's either in a mask or I put a smiley face over his realy one.

  11. haha... so cute and fun, you're adorable. I'm a boring person, I like to dress up but not at my own party, I mean I'm too lazy to organize parties. Happy birthday again!

  12. I ignore them. Just kidding, but I may start after this year. This party looks deliciously fun. I would have definitely been the person having a serious lightsaber fight.

  13. OMG, 27th birthday - oh how I remember those days ;) I am also not a Star Wars fan so none of these costumes ring a bell, but I do have to admit you are one cute Ewok! I tend to lay low on birthdays, I get so lazy as the years go by that I don't want to do anything. Hope you had a blast my dear, and enjoy the youthfulness!

  23. Haha aww, omg you look so adorable. I love the theme and I love ewoks, I call my boyfriend "Ewok" and go by "Mrs. Ewok" sometimes on sites I don't want having my real name. I usually celebrate birthdays at restaurants with friends and booze but I think I need to incorporate cute costumes this birthday! Happy Birthday once again!

I can't remember a birthday party of this caliber. Haha, is that bad? I usually keep it low-key, but you're making me want to scheme up something grand. Or, that at least involves costumes.

    Happy Birthday again, Laura!
