I'm blaming the weather for me being unable to get out of bed on time these days. And when I do get up, I only have a few minutes to take a shower, put my makeup on, and get a work-ready outfit on. The sweater over shirt+trousers formula has saved my ass so many times, and I do a variation of this outfit at least twice a week for work.
What's your Formula?
Loving the layering here! And like you said, it's an easy outfit that always works. So chic!

I can never seem to pull off a layered look like this...I'm a bit jealous because you look awesome!

How do you make everything look so good, layering always looks awful on me too
ReplyDeleteSince I don't work in a professional environment yet, my go-to: jeans + shirt + sweater/jacket. I'm wildly creative, I know. Love your nails!
ReplyDeleteI love the shirt & sweater combo, easy to put together and looks great! I love you red pumps with the outfit! :) I always seem to grab jeans, a top and cardigan when I'm rushing out of the door! x
ReplyDeleteMy rushed look is jeans, tank top, cardigan. Often times within a week I will mistakenly wear the same jeans, tank top and cardigan several times. I don't really care about impressing anyone at work, so I've become very lazy
ReplyDeleteLove the look - simple yet smart. Wish I was brave enough to wear such shoes in this weather. My toes would curl up and freeze!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! Totally my style when I work too. LOVE the orange nails on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me about this easy peasy outfit alternative. I hardly ever think of it but I love it. So, maybe not so easy for me? Your hair looks gorgeous as always. Great look!

Seriously, embarrassingly, my go to formula is (cough cough) yoga pants, a t-shirt without holes, stains, or paint, a super long cardigan to hide it all under, and maybe some chunky furry boots. Yeah. I'm a serious fashion plate aren't I? :D You far outshine me.
ReplyDeleteyou look so cute and i love that ring of yours
ReplyDeleteLove that ring girl! HAHA I love your "uniform" Laura. Trousers and a shirt are mine. So it's definitely close. Great nail color and love your ballet flats. :D

I'm wearing something very similar to work today. You look fabulous as always Laura! I love those glasses! ^_^
ReplyDeleteOMGGGG i heart that ring!!! i'm thinking about going back to work part time and i'm taking cues from your work attire!!
ReplyDeletethis is my exact no-fail formula...my reason for obsessing over collared shirts :)
ReplyDelete[oomph.]
Nice comfy look :) And I really love your nails ;) You know what, I just got creative today - which must be because of inspiration from you - and glammed up a few boxes around our house. I can't wait to show them to you and hear what you think! xoxo ♥
ReplyDeleteI also do the sweater over shirt look the only difference is its usually my boyfriends sweater lol I dig it!
ReplyDelete-Ash
Ah! The classics never fail...Love your pop of color with the shoes and your jewelry make the outfit special.
ReplyDeleteAh, my work outfit formula is usually just a tee and a cardigan with black jeans, trousers or a skirt. Kinda boring, but in the wee hours it'll do! How do you like your Christopher and Banks trousers? I'm on the hunt for a good pair, but can't seem to track them down (I think I'm far too picky).
ReplyDeleteLoving your nail polish and still loving those shoes!
ah it's great that you still added a nice touch of accessories!
ReplyDeletemy formular would be stretchy black pants + black sweather + any coat (depends on the weather) + scarf.
Very nice! Put together and sophisticated! I like! I don't know if I have a formula. Since I work in a coffee shop and I am the messiest person ever, I haven't been wearing much more than jeans and a sweater or tank +cardigan there recently. So I guess that's it. I'm exciting.
ReplyDeleteI have so much trouble getting out of bed in the winter! I like the layers.
ReplyDeleteLooking fab and sophisticated Laura!
ReplyDeleteXoxo,
Daisy
this is a classic outfit. Always works fabulously. Really preppy chic, I'm always trying to create a summer version of this look...but not quite there yet.

The Sweetest Escape
I love this outfit, Laura! It's definitely a great formula. Mine is usually a dressed down cocktail dress... or any dress, haha. One of my 2012 goals is to actually buy separates instead of dresses.
ReplyDeleteOh, our winter laziness is totally the weather's fault. Nice layering with your outfit. Black on black is good for right now.

I love your nail polish color and ring, and your shoes are super cute!
ReplyDeletewww.saysskippy.blogspot.com
I love the outfit Laura...my formula is lots of coffee, lots of concealer, lots of eyeliner...lots of basically well you know everything ahhhhh!
ReplyDeleteyour ring is so pretty!!! and i love your outfit, very simple!
ReplyDeleteI love this look and I've never tried it although I've been dying to. I might die of heatstroke these days.
ReplyDeletethis is a pretty awesome formula. very professional and cute. I am a total mess. My formula is i wake up late, i throw on whatever i can manage to grab...its really a terrible formula..im workin on it though! :) I'll keep this in mind though.

indeed, I'd say we could be identical twins, I dress like this on a daily basis since I am ALWAYS rushing out the door!
ReplyDeleteI think you look really cute here. I like the pink plaid a whole lot. My 'uniform' is usually 'skirt, button-up shirt, blazer' I have loads of pencil skirts & blazers. It's so much easier than 'thinking'.
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to have a formula that works!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute and I'm loving your formula :) And thanks for the follow...I'm following u back!!
ReplyDeleteSassy! I like the sweater + shirt look but I haven't been able to pull it off for some reason. Something about the collars not working out.
ReplyDeleteyou look really preppy and cute!! whata great idea to wear the checked shirt like that!
ReplyDeleteDude, I just posted about how I can't do the sweater/button-up thing because I always have to tug and pull stuff back into place. TEACH ME THE SECRET!! :) My formula's a plaid shirt and a grandpa cardigan sweater thing.

I feel your pain. I have never been a morning person, but geez - the past few weeks I have to drag myself out of bed after snoozing for an hour. I agree - must be the weather!
ReplyDeleteMy formula is sweatshirt, sweat pants, woolie socks. That's what happens to a supposed fashion blogger that moves to Scotland and starts working from home - egads! It's shameful!
ReplyDeleteYour formula however is far from it, Laura! That's what I look like when I actually wear "real people" clothes (for trips to the grocery store and pub). Also, I wish my hair looked that good on days I wake up late.
xoxo,
Lar
p.s. -- On trying the vegetarian thing tell your mans that it sounds horrible and when you start it you'll be terribly grumpy (Matt and I were like bratty kids the first week), but you really do start to crave more veggies. That doesn't mean I haven't stopped craving bacon, but the hamburger and bbq cravings have been tamped down by spinach and kale (and I used to be a salad hater -- much preferred my veggies cooked southern style - i.e. with a ham hock ;)). Let me know if you guys give it a go!
And I think the sweater over shirt totally works for you. Give me that ring! ha! :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow those are very beautiful .Your excitement is clearly justified! I want to tell youtrue religion shorts is my favorite and hope you can come in and see.
