Anniversary Adventures Part 1: We're Just Kids

I'm wearing:silk shirt: Liz Claiborne, thrifted:: Rockstar jeans: Old Navy::floral wedges: Report:: gold cuff: vintage::
This was my traveling outfit. I always travel sans makeup or color because everything melts during the drive. For realsies. I usually don't like wearing jeans, but these Rock Star Flares from Old Navy are just so darn comfortable and make my legs look skinny! I built the rest of the "outfit" around the jeans, so I thought I'd keep it simple with a plain white shirt, tied in the front. These photos don't really do the outfit justice, though. The shirt is a bit sheer, and I wore the neckline a bit low because I was trying to go for that effortlessly sexy look, which always seems to backfire on me. I mean, seriously, guys, who wears a high side ponytail with this look? This gal does.
Let's face it, starting a five-year anniversary weekend with a trip to the zoo, hot dogs, and ice cream is pretty much what a six-year old would imagine the perfect holiday to be. But guess what? It was fabulous. The zoo we visited was pretty tiny (what do you expect in small-town Illinois?) but I got some awesome shots of those so-ugly-they're-cute Tamarins (bottom right). And the ice cream was the creamiest, smoothest, most luscious ice cream I had ever tasted.

Those shoes are too cute! And whaaaat jeans this is crazy, Laura. Crazy. You should totally do a 70s inspired look with these, I think it would be great.
ReplyDeleteI don't think effortlessly sexy really works for me either... best that I just stick with polished. That I can do.
Great traveling outfit. If I looked as cute as you do without makeup, I would never wear it again. Amazing.

Those jeans and shoes together look create. I often find wedges to be the most comfy shoes ever for walking in! Which often surprises me because heals often try and kill me. I love zoos - a lot of the smaller zoos have actually turned out being my favourite to visit. Looks a great start to your little celebratory weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat tortoise is precious, look at his little neck! I think this is a fab start to your anniversary weekend and I love your approach to comfy traveling (side ponytail and all)
ReplyDeleteWhat cone is that, that your hubs is holding up?! Ive never had/seen anything like that!! Looks yums
ReplyDeleteAre those kangaroos humping? Cracked me up! Love the high pony and the icecream pics are so artistic- you should frame them!

ReplyDeleteYou look fab!
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing, like you had a really wonderful anniversary! Those jeans really do make your legs look very skinny. Maybe I should get some.
ReplyDeleteOk, so I'm totally about the effortlessly sexy look. Maxi and wrap dresses are my friend since the sun has decided to grace us with it's presence and provide some actual heat. I think you've done a fabulous job. Maybe a messy braid or low messy bun next time instead of a high side pony ;) I feel totally lucky that I've just eaten lunch. Otherwise, I might have tried to eat my laptop screen. That wouldn't have been pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour legs look a mile long in those jeans! My coworker has the same pair and calls them her magic pants :) I love the high ponytail and those cute orange shoes. And now I want an ice cream cone, it's not a celebration without one!
ReplyDeleteLove those jeans, I might have to try those.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a dream trip to me, happy anniversary!
