Anniversary Adventures Part 2: This Old House

We decided to spend the weekend in a beautiful, old mansion converted into a Bed and Breakfast. And I'm not talking about the fluke of a Bed and Breakfast with reproducing flowers and insufferable hummingbird-watching visitors that Rory and Lorelai Gilmore spent the night in on their drive to Harvard. I'm talking about the historic, creaky, heavy furniture kind of Bed and Breakfast. I even took a bath in a super pretty claw-foot bathtub that Eleanor Roosevelt bathed in! Should I be impressed or creeped out? I'm not quite sure.

There was only one other couple staying that weekend, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. During the couple hours of exploring and ogling all the pretty decor, I wore this cotton dress that's been sitting in my closet forever. I packed it just in case I needed an extra dress, and since it got to a boiling 90F over the weekend, it was the perfect emergency attire. My husband and I whittled the afternoon away sitting on a gorgeous, well-lit reading nook, reading comic books.

    1. I thought the same thing when I put the dress on! Maybe it's because I was (up until recently) terrified of wearing white/ cream!

  12. That first photo of you is absolutely stunning- you look so ethereal! You're such a great photographer- you should send them to the B&B owner for their website! My Mum & Step-Dad have been spending the past year converting an 18th century farm house into a B&B- can't wait to see it when it's ready!

  24. The dress is pretty and your hair looks so nice with all those curls! I've never stayed in a bed and breakfast but they are intriguing. I really like old architecture so places like this are really cool to me. About the bathtub I'm not sure how you should feel about that either lol

  26. Happy belated Anniversary. My cat refuses to cooperate and let me reply to all the blogs, I'm working by adjusting my arm so I can type over him but he keeps movinggg. I've always wanted to stay at a Historic bed and breakfast, I find it really amazing that you took a bath in a tub that Eleanor Roosevelt also washed up in, I adore claw-foot tubs. It sounds like you had a very romantic anniversary. I'm not ready for the heat, gooo away heat, I'm a mild weather type of gal.

  32. Love the lace and your hair! I need to learn how to make my hair do that (I can already feel it going straighter in premature protest - harumph).
Matt and I stayed in a B&B very much like the GG episode (shiny floral wall paper and creepily placed victorian dolls). I'm so glad you guys had the right sort of B&B. It's always a knife's edge with those places isn't it?
