I've been hanging out with friends visiting from Switzerland which explains my lack of presence on the interwebs. With all the talk about Europe, I am seriously tempted to sell all my belongings and move there with only a suitcase of essentials, a backpack full of catfood, and 3 cat carriers in tow. (My husband, of course, will be lugging the rest of my luggage.)
Much of the allure of Europe for me comes from its history. How fun would it be to walk down narrow streets lined with houses and shops built ages ago? I already know I would spend much of my time ogling ancient castles or battle sites and especially exploring barrows. And then, there's the food. We're not even going there now as I haven't had breakfast at all and any mention of edibles would probably drive me insane at this point.
Have you been to Europe?
Ugh, this so resonates with me...I have been SORELY tempted to just throw my crap in a couple suitcases (ok and crates for books!) and just move totally blindly to Europe. Get a job, settle in, live there forever. I think secretly I was made to be there...I long for those lovely streets, to be surrounded by art, and to have my style be more mainstream, haha :D I'm with you, let's go!!!

I want to live somewhere with pretty stone roads! I could be Europe, but here is ok, too. I do agree that I like to explore around old sites. We have one here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Griswold. I just wish the view was really as pretty as in that picture, lol
ReplyDeleteActually looking again, the view in the picture isn't that great. It's pretty much like that
Deleteoh what a cute outfit! oh switzerland awesome ! :) you can come visit me in Vienna if you ever come down to visit switzerland! :) I think you'd love it :)

It would be a great place to go and visit. I haven't been anywhere fun but my bf has been to India a few times and he's going to Instanbul and Athens in a few months, he always gets to have all the fun lol.
ReplyDeleteI'd go with you! Let's pack our bags and run away! Wouldn't that be lovely.
ReplyDeleteI too would love to relocate myself and my felines...and of course my fiance. I've been to Ireland...about 3 years ago...I was there to visit a fella I was dating and spent 10 days there. It was amazing...leaving Ireland (not because of said fella) was the hardest thing to do!
ReplyDeleteUgh...I wish it was easier to visit other countries! Stupid responsibilities!
LOVE your skirt!
ReplyDeleteYou need to go Laura! We went for the first time last September and I wanted to stay there too. Life is simpler there and I like how you don't need a car to get around. London and Paris I loved!
well dont you look pretty! I've never been to Europe but its on my bucket list. I need to see Paris before I die.
ReplyDeleteSwitzerland is such an amazing place! I visited a few summers ago while I was touring that part of Europe. It's stunning. If you ever have the chance to go, you absolutely have to. But make sure you take that adorable purple skirt with you! I love that it's DIY!

I can't wait to take another trip to Europe - I think about it at least once a week. And I love your DIY hi-lo skirt, it looks awesome.

I love, love, love! this skirt! Its my favorite color! I also like how its that new hi-low but not so much on the hi side that you're nearly naked ;- which doesn't work for this blogger :) I've never been to Europe, but I have certainly heard and read travelogues. What an adventure that would be, huh, if you did just what you dream-wrote about in your first paragraph <3
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't been to Europe and very much wish to be there one day! I don't know anyone who hasn't liked someplace somewhere in Europe. So lucky!! =)
ReplyDeletecute look too!

Beautiful pictures today laura!! I hope you have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThe history difference between the UK and the US still really amazes me. Like to not grow up with castles that are centuries old and Viking city defences and things always amuses me. I'm glad i'm British born in the fact of having all that history on my doorstep.
ReplyDeleteI am from Europe, and let me tell you it's another world! The pebble street you are on makes me think a lot of the old towns, small tiny streets with old building...oh yes we are missing a lot of historical building here in south US.
ReplyDeleteAll schools visit castle with the kids, it's a day trip, where we have some education and fun playing hide and seek in huuuuge castles, so fun!
I feel you. I want to migrate to Paris but there's no place like home.
ReplyDeleteTotally dig you! I've always, always, always wanted to go to Europe, especially Italy. Perhaps in a year or two with my hubby. I keep my fingers crossed!

I love Europe. I lived in England for 1.5 years and travelled around for about 6 months. I loved it. I love how the old and the new coexist like it's no big deal. A friend of mine lives in a farmhouse that's over 300 years old! I was trying to explain that my house was built in 1972 and that was old but she didn't get it. I love that people have been living and loving there for centuries! And also I love being able to see the places and the buildings where things happened in history (or, you know, when reading historical fiction...). Swoon.
ReplyDeleteYou're describing what I did last year! Minus the cat carriers. Livin' the dream baby! And can I say, you have AMAZING skin? I never noticed it before but holy moly!! It's gorgeous. I love the hair, the glasses and your lip color as well. Your braving the handkerchief skirt that I'm too chicken to take the plunge with. I totally give you some major props for that. I love them but I'm afraid I'm too fickle, would tire of them, and then regret my purchase because I'd stop wearing it. :( At least I can live vicariously through you :D
ReplyDeleteYou have an awesome style Laura!!! Love to visit your blog every time :)

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I get that allure through and through! What a wouldn't give to move over there too, siighhhh xx
ReplyDeleteLovely look! Can't believe you DIY-ed that gorgeous skirt! It looks like it was done by a pro.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know how you feel about longing for Europe! I want to live there someday. Switzerland is actually one of my top choices. Either Switzerland or Greece. I want to travel all over the continent though. I would love to explore where my ancestors came from (Italy, Germany, England, and Ireland, mostly). I've actually been to Ireland once, but I want to dig so much deeper into it. I only saw Dublin, which was an incredible, you must go there, but I would love to see the countryside where everything is so lush and green. I hope you get to travel to Europe soon, Darling! You look very gorgeous here, by the way. That high-low skirt is adorable! And you have such pretty lips.
ReplyDeleteMay the force be with you.

Cute skirt! Love the fact that you DIYed it. :)

I definitely feel the same way. It's incredible how the old is right next to the new in Europe.
ReplyDeleteCute Laura!! i love the skirt and your zebra print top!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Europe, but one day soon I hope I will get there.
I have never been to Europe, but want to visit someday! BTW, love the way you combined the bold print and color in this outfit!! Looking beautiful! Hope you are having a wonderful day!

I feel very fortunate to have visited Europe a few times (I met my husband there.) It's so wonderful and so very different than life state-side. Speaking of dreamy, your outfit is divine! Love the skirt and per usual your hair looks super fab!
ReplyDeleteI love history almost as much as I love the crap out of bacon! which is tons. I would die to move to Europe. After school, my choices are kind of slim. The CEO said I can stay in Oregon working executive here, or transfer to D.C executive, or New York executive...which is saaaad because we have bases in 80 countries!!!! Why cant I go work somewhere in Europe:( someday! SOMEDAY!
ReplyDeletePlus, I love that awesome skirt, when I wear my skirt (a similar one to this), I kind of feel like Darth Vader....hmm I dont know why that is.
Whoa, again with the backgrounds, my friend! Where is this dreamy cobblestone street?

ReplyDeletePretty skirt, Laura! I love seeing all your DIY creations. And you thrifted a mint belt? Lucky!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to go to Europe on a whim. I think about it often. As a teen, I traveled to both Greece and Italy with my high school art class. Now I dream of month long excursions here and there as I eat my way across the continent.
