I had an unplanned frabjous weekend as my very dear friend, J, drove down from Chicago to pay us a visit. And though having him around means many impromptu trips to various fast food chains around town (he's addicted), we sneaked in a lot of catching up and other sundry activities (to be showcased in tomorrow's post).
What I love about hanging out with J is that I get to be my catty self without any restraint. I've noticed that most of the people I've met get quite taken aback by my acerbic personality. Something to do with the cover not matching the book or something. It's true, but depending on the time of the month, it can be the other way around. That is, that I look mean but I'm really quite nice. In any case, I'm glad that J accepts my personality waffling and unmatching spine-to-story self.
Because I didn't get a lick of work done during the weekend, I am quite anxious to get back to sewing, sewing, sewing today. I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
Unplanned weekends with friends sometimes turn out to be the best things ever! Sounds like you had fun!
ReplyDeleteI love your DIY skirt!
Impromptu weekends are great, especially with old friends! Love your skirt too. Another great DIY.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that you have an acerbic personality - I really do as well and love being around other people who let me give free rein to it!

Your skirt! If you start selling them in your shop, I'm going to be in trouble. Glad you had a nice weekend. I love when my bff and I hang out just the two of us because she and I are both snarky and it's nice to not have to walk on eggshells.
ReplyDeleteI have only a handful of people in my life who I can really let the eccentric Emily flag fly in front of! It's so important to have friends who you can be 100% genuine around! I love your DIY skirt, the pattern is such fun!
ReplyDeleteLaura, it's been too long, soul sister! I am so happy to finally be able to catch up with your blog! I have missed you and your wonderful and inspiring fashion sense! I think that no matter what you say, you're always nice and definitely ALWAYS look nice! I'm not sold on the idea that you have a mean bone in your body. ha! And may I say how much I love your hair! Gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are SO cute! I'm really loving your hair and your skirt. And I know what you mean about people sometimes not having the personality you expect. But that keeps things interesting, and it's always good to have someone who knows exactly who you are, too :D
ReplyDeleteWoah missy, your hair's SO pretty!

Unplanned weekends with friends are always just what the doctor ordered (and for that matter, so is being able to be yourself without restraint). I'm glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteI love the color scheme of this outfit. It's gotta be those gorgeous shades of green. Ah, perfect color that green. Anyway, the print on your skirt is really intriguing, though I can't quite make it out. Birds? Leaves? Neither?
Beautiful! I love that shade of green with the black... it's unexpected and so pretty!!

I love when friends visit from out of state, I got to see a friend for the first time in years and I had a dandy time. I fall into the category of the cover not matching the book, I am told I either look really innocent or really intimidating and I'm definitely a nice person but I have a naughty sense of humor/rebellious side. You look fabulous btw, your hair looks so purty.

Love the OOTD! and boy! do I know what you mean (pun intended, ha, ha!)!!! I recently was hurt by a friend who didn't even realize they were hurting me ... and I knew if I pointed it out to them, or told anyone else, I would really come off as snarky, self-absorbed, etc... EXCEPT! my friend K - he got it :) and didn't at all think I was snarky and self-absorbed, because he was pissed, too ;)
