That one song that I made to fit the body of this post

So I don't know about you, but I sometimes I feel really happy whenever I visit my favorite blogs and see that there haven't been any new posts in a while. I feel immensely overjoyed whenever the latest post is one that I've already read, and therefore, I can go on to the next blog, fingers crossed that they too haven't updated in a while.

I guess I'm not really feeling happiness as much as I am relief. I try to allot a bit of time each day for blogging and returning comments, but try as I may, there just never seems to be enough time. Whenever I find a blog that doesn't have a new post  from 20 seconds ago, I feel like I found a kindred spirit. Because, really, between work, chores, reading, crafting, and spending time with friends and family, where can one really find the time to blog regularly? (Q: how do you a-post-a-day bloggers do it?)

Instead of stressing about it, I decided to just chill. It's my blog, and I'll blog when I want to.

  1. I totally hear you Laura. This is your blog (and I LOVE it) so have fun with it and blog on your terms...I think that's most important!! Love the stripe top with the pink bag..so cute!!

  2. lol. Hooray to lazy bloggers. You look cute in stripes.

  3. I get you, sister! It's a lot of pressure to post everyday. So I've given that up. When it happens it happens. I like to use Bloglovin because then it only shows me the new posts and i don't have to look up blogs individually. When I am back in Canada with good internet I hope that I can read and comment and blog more but until then... I'll just be satisfied with delights (like your blog) when I can get them!

  4. You should absolutely post whenever you want! I'm definitely going to start scaling back on my posts...working full time just does not leave much time for blogging. Also, I adore your blog and you could post once a month and I will always be a loyal reader.

  6. I feel you. I don't know how others do it. Sometimes I think they hire virtual assistants to maintain their blogs. Saw an opening for one when I did freelance writing.

I like visiting your blog and I feel happy when you visit. There's not a lot of really sensible bloggers who aren't just after the number of followers and what-not. Also, I'm in love with the striped top. Been looking for something like this but no such luck. Not even in F21.

  7. Yes! It's your blog, so blog when you want to ;) I like visiting you, and I like when you visit me :) I used to blog more often but I like my relaxed pace now. Lets me breathe!

  9. Really cute outfit :D You look good! I love your lipcolor, what is it by? I agree~ blogging can become a chore but I try to not let that happen..hence, we don't blog daily..just once or twice a week on our site! Blogging should be fun.. i think when it starts becoming too stressful, that's when you know, something needs to change. <3 keep in touch~

  10. Its funny you mention about the posting. There was a blog chat going on yesterday were loads of people were voicing their anti "we hate scheduled posts and bloggers who post x times a day'. Blogging can get so full of rules about how people think it should be. And as if your readers ever going to know if it was scheduled or not! I just post during the week days now, weekends are for me and husband time.

  11. I know what you say. After starting to feel stressed myself at the impossibility of keeping up with everyone else's posting, I learned to accept that I'll miss a few posts and it's okay. We have lives beyond blogging and that's alright. Blogs should supplement our life with some joy, not be a chore to drudge through. Kudos to you for such honesty and candor.

  12. It is hard to keep up sometimes! I especially am overwhelmed when I come back from vacation and don't know where to start! You know what, blog when you want to, it is YOUR blog! I'll read it when you do, and understand when you don't! :)

  13. Hah! one of those blogs who haven't posted in a while is mine!? LOL
sometimes blogging can "add" to the everyday stress...but it's very important to think that it's ok to let it go if needed (unless you're getting paid for it, right?). I had to say "eff" it for a month because I needed it...I just started posting recently and I'm glad I did take the break because I feel re-motivated...you know what I mean? (plus you have 2 blogs and an etsy to work on..that's alot!)

  15. Sorry, I totally think I posted twice in the last week or so. I'm getting all cray cray over here. But really, I don't know how daily posters do it either. When I first started I was so ambitious and tried. Really I just wanted to get some readers/make some friends. Now that I have that, I feel like you guys don't judge me for having a life off the computer (which is work... which is still on a computer)

  16. I know what you mean about doing your best to make it to so many blogs each day. I used to blog every day, and looking back, I don't know how I did it. Nowadays, I'm lucky if I blog once or twice a week.

  17. We must be on the same wave length because I've been feeling that way too! When I was doing the whole 1 post a day thing it felt like I got burned out so quickly and while it was a lot of fun hearing from a lot of people and visiting all of their blogs it took so much time to get back to everyone. I think quality is better than quantity so blogging just a few times with interesting content I think is a good way to go for me.

  18. Ha, same here! So many ideas...so little time. You look so adorable in that second picture and I love the pink purse with the bow - did you add the bow?

  19. I used to blog daily.... and then I got a life! ;) It's perfectly okay to blog when you can and go days (or weeks) until a post! We'll be here waiting to read when you're available!

  20. Laura, I find myself wondering the same thing. How do some of these bloggers do it? I used to post two times a week but it's been hard to catch up with blog reading since my stint in Spain. As a result, I'm down to one post a week and that's fine by me. I figure that your loyal readers will always come back, no matter how long it's been since you posted. I'm with you on this one, lady. Let's take a well deserve break and post when the spirit moves us! By the way, I love the pink purse! Sweet! :)

  21. Hello Laura, sorry for not dropping by for awhile. Hehe, you are still as cute as ever! Stripes top are my all time favourite basic wear. Work/life has definitely caught up with Ashley and me and we are still trying to find a way to balance everything and be back to blogging action soon. Keep in touch babe!

  22. Oh my word, me too...I love reading posts and getting comments, but sometimes it's nice to know (and feel like it's therefore acceptable for me) you don't have to post all the time!

  23. Ha ha you're funny! I really understand what you mean though! So many things flow through my head as blog posts and all these intentions to actually publish and then I go home - I just want to lie down! ha ha!

    Love this post!

  24. It is really hard to find the time to blog sometimes and sometimes I miss a day, but it can't be helped. For me it really helps that my sister and I blog together so I don't have to post everyday. I do try to regularly comment bloggers, because I feel it is only nice to comment those who comment me and I have a lot of bloggers that I like and want to visit. Lately I have fallen behind though, but I am starting to get back in the swing of things.

  25. Oh my gosh! It's been hard for me too! I've been telling myself it's not disrespectful because blogging is my hobby. Now that the boyf and I are all settled and I've learned nthat it's no big deal that the boyf and I are on our own gadgets while watching TV at night, that's when I find time to blog. and I also need to get in the mood LOL

  27. You look adorable, love. I definitely hear you about blogging. Sometimes I just feel a bit overwhelmed and can't get a post out. I think that's normal, unless you are one of those lucky duckys that get to wake up whenever you want and just sit around blogging all day.

  29. I agree! I've been a terrible blogger lately but just not had enough hours in the day to put together new posts and keep up with all my favourite reads! Like you say though it's your blog and you can post when you want! :) I love that striped top and the bow purse is so cute!

Love this outfit on you, Laura. You are so cute!

  32. aw thanks so much Laura for your comment :) the F21 bag is too adorable! and oh yeah I'm so like you. I always feel like I totally don't have enough time to blog because study honestly eats up so much of my time, it's ridiculous. Admittedly I am doing a pretty hard course with a rather onerous work load, but sometimes I wonder if I just have poor time management as well :(

  34. Squeezing time in for blogging has been difficult for me lately, too. And when I have the time, I find that I am unable to concentrate on it for too long. I am frightfully behind on reading some of my favorite blogs and it is kind of sad, in a way, because in the past I have enjoyed interacting with these ladies and being part of such a friendly and positive community.

  35. i think the best feature ever is pre-scheduled posting. i used to do big post dumps [horrible phrasing] of like 5 at a time..and then nothing for weeks. but i figured out i can space posts out and they magically appear when the time is right.

dont stress about it. people complain too much about free things on the internet. its your blog and your time. its an awesome endeavor, but the vast majority of us are not pros that get paid for our posts.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ha! Perfect, Laura! Totally feel the same way. Cath is much better about scheduling when to do posts, but I only stick with it for about a week or two before drifting off into random posting land again (same way I treat exercise too). I agree that you should blog when you want to. When we've been more scheduley about blogging it feels far too much like an unpaid job -- zaps the blogging joy.
Love your stripey top, kindred blogger!
