Most of my outfit photos are right around my neighborhood, wherever I find a more or less empty spot without too many cars or other unsightly things. Sometimes, on the rare occasion that I'm not rushing, I like to drive to my favorite photo spots to take pictures in pretty places like here or here. Then there are the even rarer occasions when we stumble upon a place like this couch graveyard.
It's a total mess. There were a bazillion couches just dumped there, a lot of them still in pretty good condition. You'd be able to take your pick from an assortment of colors and materials. I reluctantly agreed to have my photos taken, unsure about how to "pose" among my inanimate co-subjects. But even after they snapped pictures, both B (my husband) and J (my friend) wanted to linger and take even more photos of the couches. Clearly, there's something I wasn't getting.
What we did all get afterwards, however, was Indian food. Yum.
Ha ha! I have never seen a couch graveyard. Great place for a photo shoot though :) Your polka dot top looks great over the black dress.
ReplyDeleteWow, that place certainly looks like a mess! But you definitely don't - I love that polka dot top.

Nice outfit! Love the outerwear :) x

Totally don't get the appeal of the couch graveyard either. Then again I don't really like used furniture that is upholstered. A plain wood or metal chair is one thing, but couches... I don't know about that.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is you were easily the cutest thing in the whole place! You are anyway, but this was like a totally unfair contest (for the couches)
LOL at the couch graveyard! That is kind of funny. You look adorable though in the midst of it all! That dinner looks all kinds of yummy as well.
ReplyDeleteSofa graveyards - we get those around our apartment block too. When people dump them by the bins. Some are in a right state though!
ReplyDeletewoahh never knew what a couch graveyard until I sw this post!! Isb't that called fly-tipping? Anyway you look cute, as always! Yummy indian food!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool shoot! That Indian food looks yummy, too!
ReplyDeleteIndian food! I haven't had some in a long time. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAnd couch graveyard? Whoa. Weird!
"Where couches go to die" - Laura, you are too funny. What an eyesore, though. I sat here wondering why they weren't just taken to a dump/transfer station, but then I realized that those places probably charge people for disposing of big items like that. Anywho, it does make for an interesting photo shoot! And your outfit is so fun. I am seriously loving polka dots right now.
ReplyDeleteYour Indian food looks delish. I just found out that a local convenient store has homemade Indian takeout! So excited. My future weekend meals are set until further notice :)
Hehe, it's such a fun idea to take photos on a strange place like that. It is so weird that it is the most inspiring, actually :) And you look so adorable, that little bow there is simply too cute! ♥
ReplyDeleteHahaha in college, I used to dumpster dive at the end of the school year. A lot of the international students would throw their stuff away during the summer before they left (& would buy fresh again in the fall). Those dumpsters were gold mines! :) Love that top! Do you like Boden? How is the fit??
ReplyDeleteThis is my first Boden top ever, and I like it a lot! It's well-made, but I would say that they run a bit smaller.
DeleteIndian food is the best, and I like the polka dots!
ReplyDeleteMmm that Indian food looks like a veggie dish I get at one of my fave local spots. I think the couch graveyard is such a neat photo backdrop, love it and those glasses are pretty adorable on you!
ReplyDeleteThose couches are... interesting. You should have stood at the top of the pile! Queen of the couches!
ReplyDeleteMmm to Indian food -- your veggie plate looks like perfection. And you, you look like perfection! The couch graveyard... erm...I agree with you. I think it makes for one of the most unique outfit post backgrounds ever, but old furniture outside makes me sad. Did you ever see that old Ikea commercial that had the poor old lamp sitting in the rain on the curb, while the new shiny Ikea lamp was all warm and glowy inside? I hated Ikea for a while. I still think about that lamp. This might be a sign that my overly sensitive nature is somewhat of a hindrance at times ;)

I think a regular graveyard can be cool (they do offer cemetery tours here in Chicago, since there's so many famous people buried and cool ghost stories), but a couch graveyard? Maybe not. That's definitely a guy thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the polka dot top! I can't seem to get enough of polka dots lately!
Hahaha, how strange to find a couch graveyard!! In any case, you are looking very cute! I love your galaxy bow ;)

ReplyDeleteLaura, some of those couches look to be in pretty good shape! I love your new glasses! Just love them! And like always, you have us drooling over the delicious food you always eat. Indian! Oh dear, I can't remember the last time I had anything with curry in it. Sigh. Color me depressed now. :)

It's so hard to take ootd's when nobody is available to take your outfit shots. Love that you have your favorite spots. It's quite difficult around here. I don't like being spotted while doing photos for the blog. I'm actually a bit shy.
ReplyDeleteHaha I wonder how the couch graveyard got started! The Indian food looks really good :)

I can honestly say I know of no such place! Interesting location though, adds some pattern! Love your Boden shirt, wedges and great pink glasses. That Indian food looks divine, it's been far too long since I had Indian.
