Here it is-- my shorter, more manageable hair. After half an hour in the salon, my stylist managed to chop off 6 or so inches in length, and the floor was littered with gobs of fluffy green hairballs. My hair feels so much lighter now, but I'm at a loss at how to style it properly. Practice, I suppose.

You know what else needs practice? taking photos in low light. These photos were taken at 5:00 pm, and I was frantically searching for an area with as much lighting as I could find. I guess that means I'll have to make an effort to get out of the house earlier in the day or learn how to use my tripod. But for now, I'm gonna take a little trip to the mall and check out the Hello Kitty Forever collection. EXCITEMENT!

Happy weekend!

  3. If you figure out how to use your tripod, let me know. I'm still at a loss. I can only get it to take pictures at an upward angle which is not at all attractive. I've tried standing it on things and that doesn't seem to help. I'm only 5'4", so I don't know how this is an issue!

  4. I love going to the mall spontaneously to look at new collections. BUT HELLO KITTY!!! :) I miss those days when I could do that :(

  7. I have such lighting problems with photos now that winter has hit and I'm reduced to after dark photos when I get home from work. Ugh. On another note, best cardigan ever!

  8. Ahhh I hate winter! No matter how early I try to get out of work, it's alway to dark for photos! Its light in the morning, but I hate getting up early! I still do not understand the point of daylight savings, besides making people working 9-5 miserable

  9. Yes, it has taken me some practice to figure out picture lighting - and I still haven't totally gotten it figured out!

    Love the Hello Kitty sweatshirt!

  10. Laura, I love the new do! Practice does make perfect but your hair looks precious to me so really, methinks you don't have to practice too much! Would you believe I bought a sweatshirt type shirt with Hello Kitty emblazoned in the front at a second hand store here? I love it! Have a nice weekend! :)

  11. Wow, your hair is still this long after cutting 6 inches off? It's really cute! It looks even shorter in the first picture, like just past your shoulder, which is also cute if you ever decide to lighten up even more :)

  12. Ugh, low lighting is the worst, I've yet to figure out how to take a decent looking picture without tons of natural light. :P I really like how yours came out, the first has a "under the streetlights in the dark" type of look, which is pretty cool! I keep wanted to try some stylized photos like that.
Can we talk about your awesome looking hair? I am just loving the green, it so fun and different, there's something very whimsical about it. (And the sideswept bangs on you are killer.)

  17. You can't realy go wrong with hello kitty and pairing it with a mini is a good idea to separate us shorties from tweens :D

  18. Love your new hair cut, Laura! And in these pics, maybe the lighting isn't ideal for detail, but it makes your hair look like a glossy Pantene ad -- look at that shine!
I just saw your Hello Kitty/F21 post -- soo so cute! Can't wait to see what you get from the collection.

  24. It's dark here by 4:30 so after work photos are pretty much out of the picture, I have a feeling that winter pictures will be less frequent! YAY for Hello Kitty, she is adorable like you and hope you found oodles of wonderful things (for cheap of course!)

  25. these days at 5 pm, forget it! I was in the same situation on saturday. grrrr.

  27. Your new hair length is gorgeous on you! I can relate to the lack of photo friendly hours. It starts getting dark here around 4! Ughhh.

  30. Let the two weeks' worth of commenting commence! Hehe... or, maybe I shouldn't laugh... o_O

Anyway! I like your new hair length! I am always at a loss for styling, too, but mainly because my hair is very thin and straight and won't do much other than just hang there.

I've been thinking about getting back into outfit blogging, but the whole low light thing has been a deterrent. Might just have to wait for spring!
