I am sure I'm not the first one to admit to laziness in getting dressed up because of the weather. While it's true that I'm very much fond of the cold, the lack of sunlight and natural warmth makes it hard for me to care about getting up to actually pick out an outfit. Instead, I usually nab the closest sweater and wear it over monochromatic layers. I'm trying to get out of this rut, ya'llz. Trying.

My hair is also being blah this season, and so I've been putting it up in a bun a lot to prevent me from obsessing over it. I don't get it. Right after I bleached it and dyed it green, my hair was amazing. It was soft and smooth, despite the bleaching and stuff, so I went on about my business and deep conditioned every week or so. Now, it feels so heavy and oily even though I barely put any product on it. I did just purchase new stuff, so I hope it works. We'll see.

Another thing I don't get are the roses growing outside my driveway and on the street. Despite the cold and grey, they look faboo.

  1. Sorry about your hair not behaving, hope the new product helps. Yeah, I remember when I woke up to cold mornings at Towson and all I wanted was to stay in my fuzzy pijamas all day. You look very cute as always!

  2. I like the tough scarf with the pretty rose color. Cuteness as always.

We need to have a "We hate our hair" club. Someone told me my hair cut looked cute today and I wanted to cry. I don't want my hair to look cut, I want it to be long again.

  3. Roses love cold weather and sunshine. Mine don't bloom until it gets down to the low 60s at night here in New Orleans. I also desperately need to figure out a way to wear a skull scarf to my semi-conservative office. Hmmm.

  4. I didn't even know roses grew in the cold, but they are pretty. I also hear you on being cold and having a hard time getting dressed. It takes a lot of effort when it gets really cold. Love your scarf today :) Heather

  7. I like the scarf. I wear my hair up a lot, since I am usually too lazy to style it so that I can wear it down.

  8. Wow, those roses are so pretty! Everything here is already dead and gone for the winter! Love the scarf, a little edginess to go with your feminine look!

  10. And here I was going to say how much I'm loving your hair in a bun! Come on, woman, you look great in anything! The sweater and scarf are adorable and roses this time of year? Priceless! Oh, and before I forget, I so need a pair of those black skinnies! They would surely make for a change from my ratty sweatpants! ha! :)

Also, that skull scarf is the best. Such a great detail for a simple outfit.

  13. Aw, see I think your hair looks cute here, but I'm a little envious that you have enough to put in a proper bun like this. Have you ever tried a dry shampoo? It helps soak up oil from your roots, so it could help while it's not behaving. I like the one suave makes (which is only like $3 at drug stores).

Roses have been blooming around here too, which seems so odd with the weather. It snowed overnight earlier this week, yet there's flowers growing!

  15. You make skulls look so sweet! There are some winter flowers blooming around here, too. I'm kind of puzzled by them even if they are nice!

  17. Ok, when it gets cold I personally have to beat down the yoga pants and baggy shirt monster that wants to possess my body. So you're doing way better than me. You actually look cute and put together. Hmmm... the hair thing is perplexing. When I moved here, I had something similar happen but that was without changing my hair color. I'm convinced it's something in the water. I was just lucky enough to stumble on this extreme process that rectifies it cuz there was NO way I was walking around looking like that. My hair is like my baby. I hope you figure out something soon!

  18. I love pink on you! And I hear ya. When it gets cold, it is harder to get yourself dressed up! All you want to do is wear warm things!

  19. I used this stuff that came in a purple bottle from Sally Beauty Supply when I did my hair all kinds of colors (I so cannot remember the name). Occasionally I would use something a little abrasive like Head and Shoulders to help strip the excess oils out of my hair and refresh. Since I've been growing out my hair all I do pull it into a bun and use a headband to hold it back since I work with my head mostly leaning down so I don't get my hair in my face.

  20. Dude, when it gets cold I just put everything in the closet on. (It's so flattering you know. I think the snow-pants always really make an outfit. ^_^) It's hard to get away from just warm sweater and jeans in the winter, it always feels like too much effort to put skirts on.

I hear you about the hair! after dying mine it was soft but now it's just super dry, I'm having to slather it with the moisturizing products. Yours still looks pretty fab, it is so thick! (So jealous, mine goes really flat in the cold air. Also really jealous about the roses growing outside right now.)

  21. I love that you still have such pretty roses hanging around even in the cold!

  22. Hardy little flowers, those roses. Dusty rose is such a nice color on you. I really like the combined ease and prettiness of this outfit.

  23. Roses grow like crazy in Scotland (in the midlands at least) even though it's rarely warm here -- they are so much hardier than they look, aren't they?
I know exactly what you mean about making an effort with the lack of sunlight and cold. My first winter in Edinburgh last year was also (I hope) my sartorial nadir. This year I've managed a bit more pizazz so far.
