I've been wanting to try this look ever since Larie and Cassy posted it on their blogs. Gold and black is such a gorgeous combo, and it's perfect for holiday parties or just dressing up an edgy look.In my take, I didn't line the bottoms of my eyes with black liner. Instead, I opted for a softer look. I drew on a thicker line with the brown gel liner and then set it with a LOT of loose gold eyeshadow.
Essential: use a good primer to keep the shadow and liner in place.
HOW TO:
1. Prime your lids and the under eye area.
2. Using an angled brush and black gel liner draw a cat eye with an exaggerated wing.
3. With the brown gel liner, line the bottoms of your eyes. Make the line somewhat thick but not heavy with product, and connect it with the wing of the black liner.
4. Set the brown liner with the loose gold eyeshadow.
I was useful! lol. This combo does look very nice on you. I'm also jealous how nice your cat-eyes come out. Mine don't swoop so much as stop and jut up at an angle that I can never replicate on my other eye (so I'm always slightly lopsided, don't tell)
neat!! i think i could try this...since i already line my eyes in black on top, just need to add the gold! looks nice...i saw the inspiration photo, too.
i like that! shimmer always looks great around the eyes. another blogger did it with silver and it looked good too. great job laura. http://www.averysweetblog.com/
Eeeeee!!! I love it! And I love that it's softer and not so dramatic - sometimes that's all we need. Really lovely and totally holiday appropriate. I gotta try more looks but my hair is kind of driving me nuts....growing it out and it's in that awkward stage so I'm not happy with it in photos :(
gorgeous! two questions though.. how long does the black eyeliner stay on? [my eyeliner gets goopy in the outer corners of my eyes after a few hours] and what kind of eyeliner brush do you use? i find most of them are super soft and hard to use accurately
Yes! This is gorgeous. So clever. I'm going to have to see what I can find on this side of the pond to get into this metallic thing. I love it. This is a brilliant nude lip color too. I have such a hard time finding good nudes for my olive colored skin.

ReplyDeleteNice job! I love the Too Faced primer. That was my first eye primer and I was hooked after that. Love this :) Heather
