Up until recently, I've always thought of outerwear as something that doesn't have to be fashionable. Maybe it's because I when I lived in Alaska, function was much more a priority than fashion, and I always took my coat off as soon as I entered a building. I had peacoats for the warmer Spring and Fall temperatures, then I switched to warmer, puffier coats for the numbing Winters. Now that I live in a state that experiences 4 distinct seasons, I have a bevy of outerwear options. And my options exploded when I realized that one can actually find some thrifted or vintage.
This is my second vintage faux fur coat ever (my first one can be seen here), and I totally feel like a pimp wearing it. But, hey, I'm a super warm pimp.
Are you a hottie or what!!!? I love that coat on you! Outerwear is great when it's fashionable, isn't it? I bought a few coats last year for the sheer joy of it being fashiony :p
I saw a vintage leopard coat this weekend and almost bought it! This looks so great on you! I love living somewhere with four seasons for the same reasons as you - so many fun outdoor options!

You and I both - on leopard love. And yes, outerwear can be quite fashionable. Wow. Is that new hair color? You are rocking the green. Girlie Blog Seattle | Casual Chic Fashion
Ah, there's just something about a leopard coat that makes a girl feel like a pimp. (It's awful, I always feel like that in my leopard coat and it's not even furry.) That said, this is so far from being pimp-ish looking! I love it with the all black, it's like something Elizabeth Taylor would wear on a mild day.
Word on the coats. Snowpants and puffer coats will never be cool. :P It's got to be awesome living somewhere where there's an actual fall and not just two weeks of leaves turning color and falling off.
OHMYGAWD love that coat, so beautiful! In the past, I always wore thrifted/vintage coats and they were always my favorite items of clothing. I have had "regular" winter coats in the past 10 years and miss my vintage. I need to go shopping!
Laura!! Oh my gosh, that coat! I.must.have.it!! I love, love, love it! You look fantastic! Notice how my excitement is demonstrated by my use of exclamation points! hee hee! Hugs! :)
Wow! Love that coat on you, it is so diva glam :) Also, I don't know why your post images don't appear for me in Firefox...I'm using Windows 7 and the latest version of Firefox, but I always have to switch over to Safari ??? haha
Hey you look great and honestly cool in it! There's so much going on in this coat, the luxurious fur and playful prints but you sure can carry it off well!
You totally rock your leopard pimp coat. Totally. :D I find that I always look through the outerwear at thrift stores, too. Even though I already have more coats and jackets than I really need, I am always on the lookout for that one vintage gem ;)

ReplyDeleteLove the vintage fur on you! I have a few but always feel people are thinking I'm being stuck up! LOL I have no idea why...
That is a great coat. Since I live in a super cold area, I do tend togo for function first with outerwear.

ReplyDeleteThat's such an awesome coat!! I hate it how outerwear is often form versus functionality-it takes special skill to look chic AND be cozy!
