Blame it on the weather

I don't know about you, but this week was pretty ridiculous for me. I justifiably blame my insanely crap week on the weather. Last weekend, we in the Midwest got graced with a foot (more in some places) of snow. It pretty much snowed continuously over the weekend, and as a result, I couldn't make my scheduled trip to Kansas for work. After what seemed like endless hours of conference calls and meetings later, I feel like it should already be February.

BUT! I'm trying to remain positive! After all, January is my birthmonth! I've started my weekend with a lot of yummy (and deserved) treats, and I'm finally blogging while listening to one of my favorite albums on loop (The Pipettes: We are the Pipettes, in case you're curious). AND, it's quickly warming up here in St. Louis, and the snow is melting everywhere, which means I can finally wear non-boots and heels! EXCITEMENT.
I feel like I don't get to wear these bow flats that often, but it was the obvious choice when I paired this dress with my polka dot blazer. By the way, I am going through a ponte knit blazer kick lately. I now have 3 in my closet, and I love them. It's hard to find off-the-rack blazers that are well-fitting and look semi-tailored, so soft, ponte knits are great for that structured but still fitted look. And they're warmer and more comfortable than regular blazers. It's like wearing a polished cardigan!

  9. Ah another good one for you. Blue is the right color. I like how it looks so bright. Yes - crazy week for me too. I will also blame it on the fact that Seattle has been raining side ways.

  10. Ponte knit blazers! Omg! I never even thought of that idea. I lurv it. I now need to find one. Its just polished enough for the office environment but still fits into my comfy requirement. I'm glad the snow is melting for you. I love the first few hours of the pure white snow world but then it gets to that point where I have to travel in it and somehow, that reduces it's awe inspiring beauty/novelty factor for me. We've been getting absurd amounts of rain here. Massive flooding that's closed roads and forced people to evacuate their homes. We've been lucky so far. Our street has managed to stay open and the water that was building up in our back and front garden stopped before it got to our doors. Supposedly, it's going to get to a ridiculous cold level next week. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm just not hardy enough for stuff like that. Gonna have to see if I can reach down and find some polar bear qualities in me. :D Wish me luck.

  14. Nope, not jellies, but they do look like more of an opaque option, don't they?

  15. Thank you, Rachel! Wet feet are not happy feet! I wear lots of socks and boots when there's a lot of snow in the ground!

  16. Thanks! I somehow always gravitate towards blues, which is weird because it's not particularly my favorite color!

  17. I am happy to hear that your street is not flooded! I hope that the rains ease up a bit soon and that it doesn't get as cold as forecasted :( The weather has been wacky, wacky I tell you!!! But in case is does get cold, I'm crossing my fingers that you unlock your hidden polar bear. Hugs!
