What is it?
For 6 months, starting June 10, 2011 until December 10, 2011, I will not purchase any article of clothing, new or used, nor will I purchase any accessories such as jewelry, purses, or shoes.
Gasp! Why are you putting yourself through this kind of punishment?
When I started this blog, I had planned on showcasing my own style, using the items I already had in my closet. But when I immersed myself in blogging, I found it so hard to resist buying the cute pair of shoes that one blogger wore or the adorable purse that another blogger got as a present. Instead of actually loving the worldly delights I already had, I was just accumulating more, spreading my love thin.
My 6-month shopping fast will (hopefully) help me to:
1. Learn how to sew. In high school, I had high hopes of sewing all my clothing. Inspired by Paradise Kiss, I attempted to become a DIY maven. Now, I'm not a rocking seamstress, but I can sew a straight line!
2. Stop hoarding. Oh gosh, that's harsh. I'm not a hoarder, I just have tons of stuff. I want to be crafty, but don't have the patience to actually sit down and practice a craft until I get to the level/quality that I want the item to be. Hopefully, I will learn how to use the beads, ribbon, and findings I have to make something I will actually want to wear.
3. Love the stuff I already have. Remix. Shop my closet. Appreciate things more.
